At Counter Culture Mom, our community members - YOU - are so important!

In reponse to the previous alert on the Dr. Dolittle movie, Laura sent this to us to share with all of you.

Although the previews and early reviews of the movie suggest it as family-friendly, a review this morning adds more to the story:

"I heard a not so glowing review of the film, Doctor Doolittle, this morning on The World and Everything On It podcast. You might want to put a caution for some of the content. I wasn’t impressed so much after I heard the review."

Dr. Dolittle, a family-friendly fun adventure story about a doctor who speaks with animals, hits theaters this weekend. Common Sense Media gives it a rating of family-friendly and appropriate for ages 8 and older. There are some loud and scary violent scenes with guns, but the movie contains an overall positive message. This film is made by the creators of the most recent Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent, so expect some similarities in the way the story gets modernized.

This is the fourth film incarnation of Dr. Dolittle, a character from Hugh Lofting's book "The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle" which was originally published in 1922. The first film adaptation was released in 1967, starring Rex Harrison. The second incarnation featured Eddie Murphy in 1998 and 2001 and met mixed reviews because of its raunchy humor and portrayal of bad behavior. Dr. Dolittle 3 starred Kyla Pratt as Maya Dolittle, the teenage daughter of the animal-conversing doctor who discovers she inherited her father's talents.

From Iron Man to Dr. Dolittle, Robert Downey Jr. stars and showcases the friendships with his animal menagerie. Expect lots of laughs and wacky adventures.

COUNTER CULTURE MOM's consideration ONLY stint of hesitation on giving this a A++ is that the makers of this flick also pumped out Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent. I gave 2 thumbs down to Maleficent. Robert Downey Jr. better not let this mom down!
