IF you still have Netflix after I've blasted out a dozen shows to steer clear from on this media platform - this year alone - one great show I can actually recommend is The Star. This movie is the retelling of the nativity story through the eyes of a donkey. I had to do a double take that this was actually being provided by Netflix. The story followed the truth from Scripture and my two younger girls loved every minute of it.
There were scenes where Mary and Joseph had to trust God to help them through difficult circumstances, several scenes showed Mary and Joseph praying to God, and the donkey gave up his dream of following an early king to serve Christ. All characterisitics we want our children to exemplify! (The ONLY reason I have Netflix is to know what they are pumping out to our kids, so I can keep you in the loop)
Here's the description of the show according to DVD.com. "A small but brake donkey names Bo yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at hte villge mill. One day he finds the courage to break free and teams up with Ruth the loveable sheep and Dave the hilarious dove with lofty aspirations. Along with three wisecracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new freinds follow the Str on the adventure of thier dreams, filled with lots of laughter - and become part of the greatest story every told."
If you don't have Netflix, I would NOT advise getting it. However, if you're still on the fence if you should ditch it or not, I would say cancel Netflix right after watching The Star. LOL. Here is a direct link to watch the show. Most of our Christmas movies, songs, and toys support and promote Santa Clause who my kids constantly tell their friends is a fraud. Yikes! So whenever a great Bible-based movie comes along that captures children's hearts and helps them understand and remember why we celebrate Christmas, we should watch it.
